Creating a connection between parents, students and staff
The United Parents’ Group at United Lisbon International School plays an active role in strengthening our school community, bringing together parents of all children at the school to help with fundraising, organising events and social activities.
They support the school through event planning, fundraising, and coordinating special celebrations such as International Day, a wonderful beginning-of-year event that welcomes families and brings everyone together.
The group also hosts social gatherings outside of school to build unity and connection. Through their parent communication chat, families can seek advice and recommendations on everything from car mechanics and lawyers to where to find speciality foods from their home countries.

📚 Book Club
The Parents Book Club at ULIS is a great way to connect, share ideas, and discuss books, setting a positive example for our young readers.
We meet monthly to discuss a selected book that resonates with parents, covering various genres and themes. Whether you're an avid or occasional reader, this club welcomes everyone. It's a chance to relax, engage in conversation, and connect with other parents. Every perspective makes the club unique.
We meet monthly at the school on Thursdays at 8:20 a.m. Coffee and refreshments are served by the school during our conversation. The location helps parents feel at home and attended to. The atmoasphere is relaxed, focusing on enjoying literature and sharing perspectives in a friendly, informal setting.
During 2024-2025, we read seven diverse books together. Each month, we select a new book with members' input. Recently, we began "Travel around the world through books," where each member suggests a book from their home country, reflecting our international community. In our last meeting on January 15th, we read a book by Iranian author Marjan Kamali, The Lion of Theran, which was really in sync with the current situation in the world. This is the perfect example: through literature, you educate yourself and better understand the conflicts around the world.
