Uniform
Students at ULIS enjoy a flexible non-uniform dress policy that allows them to wear their own clothing. This approach supports individuality and wellbeing, while our guidelines ensure safety and appropriateness for school life.
For PE lessons and when representing the school at external fixtures, all students are required to wear the official school PE uniform so they can be easily identified and feel part of the team.
Uniform items can be purchased at the school office before joining or at any time throughout the year.

The school day
Our campus is open from 7:00 to 18:00, providing flexibility and convenience for families. The school benefits from 24-hour security, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all members of our community. There are two entrances to the school, one at street level and another via the underground parking.
Class times for Early Childhood (Pre-K3, Pre-K4 and Kindergarten) run from 9:00 to 15:30, while classes for students in the rest of the school take place from 8:00 to 15:30. Our extended opening hours also support participation in enrichment activities and after-school care in a welcoming, well-supervised setting.
Healthy lunches
Our United Lisbon canteen, operated by Thomas Franks, provides freshly cooked meals on site each day. Our lunch service includes three main course options (with vegetarian and vegan choices always available), three side dishes, daily soup and salad, and fresh fruit for dessert – with cake offered on special occasions.
Early Childhood students are served in their dedicated lunch hub, while older students enjoy their lunch in the canteen. Morning and afternoon snacks are also provided throughout the school, and menus regularly celebrate international dishes. Students in High School have the option to bring their own food.
School nurse
The school nurse is on hand daily to support students, administer medication and handle any other requirements.
Transportation
We offer a convenient and reliable door-to-door transport service within a 50 km radius. We aim to meet the needs of our families by providing a safe, efficient, and well-coordinated service for students from Early Childhood through to the IB Diploma Programme.
To support participation in our after-school programme, we provide three afternoon departure times from campus, giving students flexibility to fully engage in sports, clubs and enrichment opportunities while ensuring a smooth journey home. Please note that the school bus is an additional paid service.
School library
The school library is a welcoming space for the entire school community – a place to read, research and collaborate. Through its library system, students and staff members have access to a range of physical and digital resources that enhance teaching and learning. The physical collection includes a wide selection of fiction and non-fiction titles, ranging from picture books to IB-specific textbooks and academic resources.
Beyond its function as a learning hub, the library also serves as a shared community space, hosting clubs, classes, fairs, competitions, and special events. Throughout the year, the library organises book fairs in English and Portuguese, promotes and celebrates Book Week, and actively participates in school-wide initiatives such as Spirit Weeks, festivals and thematic events.
