United Lisbon International School offers students from ages 3-18 a broad and balanced international curriculum taught in English.

Our Founders
Roman and Chitra Stern have been entrepreneurs in Portugal since 2001. They are the founders of Martinhal, a group of high-class hotels focused on families in the Algarve and Lisbon. They are also involved in a series of real estate development projects in the Parque das Nações at Avenida Dom Joâo II, such as the new Ageas Headquarters and the Martinhal Residences – one of the first exclusive Branded Residences hotels in Lisbon.
Being an international family in Portugal, with four children of their own, Roman and Chitra have a passion for families and care deeply about the next generation growing up and being ready to make a difference in an ever-changing world. In their various engagements and pro bono activities, including as an Executive Committee Member of “Portugal In” (a task force to promote Foreign Direct Investments in Portugal), they seek to support Portugal in its effort to further international outreach and grow economic perspectives.
Part of Dukes Education
In 2022, our School Founders decided to partner with the Dukes Education Group to take ULIS to the next level of growth. United Lisbon was the first international school partner with the Dukes Education Group outside of the United Kingdom. That first step into Europe with ULIS was the catalyst for further growth in Europe soon after – Dukes has since acquired other schools in Portugal, Switzerland, Ireland, Spain and in Central Europe.
Dukes Education is a family of schools and educators, brought together by a common purpose: to give children the foundations for an extraordinary life, through education.
